evo won't start

so last night was raining pretty bad out. I got out of school and started the car and drove it for about 5 blocks. Then suddenly the car died on me when I stopped at a red light. Tried jumping it and no go. there is enough oil in the engine. I have 3/4ths gas in the tank. It sounds like it cranks but wont start. I did fix my o2 sensor by the exhaust with a spark plug fouler about a month ago, could that have done something? A friend told me i might have went over water and it wet some electrical component. Any ideas? Thanks!

i have an 06 evo with 30k mi, all stock except the exhaust

o2 sensor would not have stopped it from driving.

Did you hit any large puddles by chance? I've heard of people getting water in their intercooler and flooding their engine but that would require you hitting a huge puddle.

Did you check your fuses? There is an ignition fuse. Not sure where it is located in an 06.

Fuel pumps can fail. That is another possibility.

Getting water in the intercooler would mean that there is a hole in it somewhere. You would have been getting massive boost leak. I dont think thats the problem. It might be electrical. What did it do when it stalled? Where you just sitting at the light? Do you hear the fuel pump coming on?

It was one of the engine fuses under the hood. I replaced the fuse but it still pops after driving for a couple blocks. If i stop it blows. When the car died i was sitting on a red light . Any suggestions?

It ended up being the fuse under the hood, because the o2 sensor under the car by the exhaust has a little tear by the wires and it was grounding out. Thanks everyone for your help!

I had the same problem a few years back. Just get rid of the o2 sensor an have some one remove it from the ecu via the Tactrix cable.

The hole the water gets into is the intake. A friend of mine toasted the engine in a brand new pickup this way driving home from work in a thunderstorm. The insurance company would only buy him a rebuilt engine.

So, if there are big puddles on the road, be careful.
