car wont start :/
i have a 2005 evo 8.
as i was driving, my car just cut out, i pressed the gas and no response, as soon as i slowed down to about 20 it completely shut off.
as i pulled over and tried to start it up, it started but as soon as i tried to give her some gas it died again.
when i towed it home, i was told to change my fuel pump.. i changed it and it still wont start at all.
i took a fuel rail and put it to a bottle, when i crank it pumps gas... and if i add fuel starter while trying to start, it starts up for about 2 seconds, but dies right after.
has anyone had this problem before?
any help would be appreciated.

check all your piping, if your car idles but won't take gas, most likely.
Next time it happens, disconnect the MAF and limp it off the road so you can connect the pipe safely

but now it doesnt start at all. unless i add starting fluid, which has the engine run about 5 seconds till it dies.
i checked all the pipes, that was the first thing i did.
i heard it might be the injectors.
air fuel and spark man.
air - check your piping, check your timing, check your compression
fuel - check gas level, check fuel pressure
spark - check ignition
starter fluid, really? what do people use that for? help start the fire?

I would look into fuel pressure/volume and injector pulse with a noid light( tester)

Same kind of scenario happened to me. Pull your spark plugs and see if they are fuel fouled. If they are, then it may very well be your fuel pressure regulator going bad. good news is that the fuel pressure regulator is an inexpensive part and very easy to replace.
well i had an electrician look at it, and he told me that the new fuel pump i got was not giving enough fuel.
if we rev the car to about 3k RPMs it will start, and if we keep it at 3k rpm it runs..
so i bought a used fuel pump, but at least its OEM and i know the seller.
hopefully this works.
