FTW = For The Win

AMS balance shaft is the way to go. The stubby shafts are not good for the oil pump IMO.

Get the AMS version, or take the stock balance shaft to a machine shop and have them do the same work.

I would NEVER rebuild an engine and leave any form of balance shaft in there. The Stubby shaft is a factory piece and it is fine for the oil pump. The myth that they were bad for the pump was from people using non oem stub shafts without the oil roove in them. I have NEVER seen a documented failure due to a stubby shaft but I have seen MANY balance shafts fail and destroy motors. AMS race shaft is a bad idea. If it was such a good idea why dont engines without balance shafts have a support shaft for their oil pumps? Why does mitsu not use a shaft in the 1.6L 4G61T which rev's higher than the 4G63? Use your heads people. Balance shafts are only used to smooth out the vibrations from the larger 2.0L motor.
