Running 20w50 in a 4g63 stems from people running no balance shafts. If you ran say a 10w30 oil at high RPM there was not enough support for the stub shaft causing the oil pump to eat its self up. Switching to the 20w50 provided more support for the stub shaft and oil pump gears at high rpm's. I don't feel 20w50 is needed in a car with a 4g63 still running b-shafts. Will running a 20w50 kill your stock 4g63. Don't think so. My weight of oil is 15w40.

I add a quart of KY to my 20w50 it helps provide better lubrication, then the lucas oil stabilizer. hahahah im just kidding. Yea ive ran 20w50 on my car for past 40k, no real issues other then some oil leaks here and there. But runs strong, especially where most of the year here its above 80*f, although im sure there are those that live in cooler and colder climates probably could get away with a 15w40 or maybe a 10w40 in those kinda environments come winter time.
