You can install it upside down, just pay attention how the old one came off and you will be fine.

i bet if you zip tie the belt on the cam gears...
then use the tool to slowly take tension off the belt, then you could sneak it thru
but, ive never done it... so i dont know for sure.

Yeah I'm not so sure if you can sneak the sensor out without removing the belt. The trigger plate sits in between the sensor so usually you need to remove the crank pulley so the trigger plate can wiggle loose and then you can slip the sensor off. Maybe its possible but at that point you're already in there lower cover off so pop off the belt reset it it and call it a day.
I just did this. You can slip the sensor past the belt, but you have to be careful and methodical. I used a screwdriver to bend the belt 90 degrees and angled the CAS in the same way i got the old one out. I did this because I wasn't even sure if the CAS was the problem. While you're in there, make sure your timing is set correctly, your hydraulic timing tensioner is in good shape and no teeth have skipped. The oem belt is tough as hell, but don't let it get gouged. I don't know how hard it is with aftermarket belts.

Thanks for the response. It's good to know this can be done without removing the TB.
Unfortuately the TB has skipped and teh timing is off, not sure yet if there is any internal damage, the sensor looks ok but gonna replace anyways.
Can anyone tell me, or even better yet, show me where the crank position connector attaches to the engine wiring harness? I'm having some really bad misfires and found a disconnected plug that I'm currently suspecting could be this sensor. Thanks in advance for any info!
