Hey Ted B
After reading the percentages you've listed, I got to thinking (smoke billows). What are your thoughts on oil filter effectivness, and oil pressure. Do you think oil presure would go up with a more effective oil filter? ...dependent on oil reading location? ...not enough of a difference to worry about?

ALSO THIS IS FOR EVERYONE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MANY OFF THE SHELF OIL COMPANYS ARE DOING,,,,,, NOT AMSOIL:
The American Petroleum Institute (API) and International
Lubricants Standards Approval Committee (ILSAC) have
mandated the reduction of phosphorus to extend catalytic converter
life. However, reducing the level of ZDDP can compromise
protection to engine components. Current API SM and ILSAC GF-4 specifications
for gasoline engines have maximum and minimum
phosphorus levels of 800 ppm and 600 ppm, respectively, for
SAE 0W-20, SAE 5W-20, SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-30 and SAE
this is what the government whants for GO-GREEN, it means more failures with our engines and turbos when modified.

i would bet you would see a slight increrase but not enough to hurt you.
also remember if pressure is to great bypass comes into play , problem is oil is not being filtered then, many folks dont realize that a dirty filter is bad news because of the increase in oil psi cause by clogged filter and bypass activates hence no oil going though the filtering media.

I haven't been buying the newer SM or ILSAC GF-4 for awhile now. Even our local DSM/Evo engine/trans builder Jack (Jacks Transmissions) agrees the new SM oil is crap and has seen lubrication damage to several engines.
The European oils such as M1 0w-40 and German Castrol 0w-30 do not have this spec so I usually run one of those, Brad Penn or the Diesel oil. Most 20w-50 oils are also not SM compliant so those are safe but might be a tad thick for winter cold starts. I've also seen one of the fastest turbo Mustangs pour Rotella Diesel oil in his race car at one event.
As for filters, I will never buy a Fram. Do a search and you will see they are poorly constructed and are usually at the bottom of the list when someone does a comparison against other brands. I think OEM would be a better choice along with Purolator, M1, Amsoil, Wix, Napa Gold, and K&N. Sorry to get off topic with the filters but oil and filters do go hand in hand.

Wix filters have a very good media, as well as the M1 and K&N which are very similar IIRC. The amsoil is very nice but it is a good chunk more expensive. I don't plan on 15k change intervals so I run the M1 or Wix. Autozone will have a good deal sometimes with 5qts of Castrol and a M1 filter. You can get the 0w-30 GC oil and the larger M1 filter all for under $40...quite a bargain.

Same here. Either 5W-40 diesel truck oil or 0W-40 european blend Mobil1
PPM is higher than the other Mobil1 blends
