2nd Gear Grind
I was driving to work last night. The car wasn't completely warm but it was warm enough. The outside temperature was about 40 F. I was on first gear going about 10mph. I shifted to second. The shift didn't feel right so I placed it back to neutral. I tried again. Same thing. On the third attempt, it was going into second but before it could go all the way, I heard grinding noises.
I was able to go into 2nd gear. The grinding was not hard enough to prevent me front going into 2nd. The clutch was down all the way throughout the 3 attempts. Anyone can explain what happened? What parts are affected/damaged? I did search and the only time everyone would get 2nd gear grind is when they are shifting quickly at high RPM.
Thanks in advance...
BTW, 2nd gear felt a bit smoother and less notchy after the incident.

When you say your car was warmed up, you mean you just had it sitting outside running right? Well doing that doesn't do anything to your tranny though. The only real way to warm up your tranny is by driving it. I don't know what the temp in Houston was that day but in Chicago when its in the 30's there isn't a way you can shift without it grinding a little before the tranny gets warm, then its normal. I think mitsu says thats normal if the temp is too called
