Chad what is your opinion on the new grind on the HKS cams? Would you go with S2s instead?

I honestly dont know!

If someone would bring a car to me with the HKS turbo and cams I'd love to give some feedback!

I havent had a chance,

the S2's are a great cam, and we use MANY of them...

Maybe R/T or someone else has some input!

I don't know for sure, but I'm sure they're not far from their original 272's, yet still not as aggressive as an s2. We would need to know the lift at .050 and look at the ramp profiles to get a better idea... And furthermore dyno testing.

I think there are around 10 Evos in the Tri-Cities. I know three well - droppinbottom (10), 3man1 (10), and uvambo (9). None of the others I've seen ever seem to post on EvoM. Drop me a PM next time you are planning to head over there.

Aaron (JB) did a quick comparison with S2s. They are pretty close. I think the intake has about 0.4 mm less lift, and there may be slightly less duration. I'll get the specs from him as I'm interested too.

A lathe and a dial indicator work pretty well. then you just have to multiply your lift by the variable rocker arm ratio and account for the point of contact with the roller rocker. LOL.

but yeah if you did both of them on the same lathe without applying kinematics, then yeah you could get a pretty good idea of what was going on.

*or a really simple way* replace the valve spring with a soft spring and measure the lift degree by degree directly at the valve with a dial indiciator. :P

Patience. All this work takes time. BBK + ToxicFab is on the car and tuning is in progress. Next phase (manifold and turbo comparison) is next week.

Not sure what that amounts to on the dyno but if they are close to the S2s then maybe I'll stick with them instead of selling them for S2s...

I'm more keen on knowing what's the spool like on the HKS turbo. I can care less on the top end power (if the difference isn't to much that is). More interesting for me is how much faster the turbo spools in the low and mid range. Be awesome if the Tomei was on the testing chart as well. But beggers can't be choosey, so I'll take what I can get.
