I used the Amsoil in my evo and never had the ticking problem even when the car is cold on startup.

i used it for 20K in my IX never had an issue, i have hundreds of customers using it with great success because of the high quality of the oil.

there are many issues one must look at before the oil, PVC valve usually ticks under heavy vacume, bypass the PVC to see if it stops, also lifters may have been bled correctly or maybe not, lifter going bad,,,, many many variables or maybe a lighter weight will cure this.

Of course not! I let it idle a few minutes before I drive it.

You know, I wouldn't mind trying a different weight, or a different brand, but the face of the matter is I just paid twice what I normally would for oil because it is "better". Why am I going to throw it out?

I want to make it clear I am NOT bashing AMSOIL. I'm sure their oil is of higher quality than others, I am just trying to figure out why this is happeneing. It sounds like I need a different weight for the temps we see in the NE. It looks like others have this issue as well.

I warm my car up for 1-2min then drive slow for about 2-3 miles and shift under 3k and I don't see anything wrong with that

That is fine. My initial interpretation of his post was he jumps in and goes, yet was asking why his lifters were ticking.

Its probably a coincidence that it happend right after the oil change. Like it was said earlier, you can change your oil to what you used before and see what happens.

ya you will get lifter tick if the car sits long enough the oil drains from them a little, but it goes away. perfectly normal.
