Angry Billet 6765 surging ?!?!

I have tuned my evo to 1.6 bar so far, anything over 1.7-1.8 bar and the turbo surges badly all the way to redline in every gear

I'm using the ported compressor housing and use an apexi avc-r to control boost On a 3" intercooler and 2.5" piping

My head isn't ported but with tomei 280 cams

As soon as the car boosts over 1.7 bar it starts compressor surging all the way

what's up with that ?

Can you get a video for us? That would help.

What manifold are you running? External wastegate dump or is it plumbed into the downpipe?

Why are you only running a 3" intercooler on a 6765?

a leaking bov can actually help prevent surge...

This is what Im betting on. You probably have to much or not enough duty cycle in the settings of the boost controller.

what do you mean by surge?

have you considered spark plug misfire, or possibly a boost leak due to a coupler stretching at higher boost levels?

Gain setting is probably wrong and you are getting WG flutter, not surge. I havent seen large turbos surge even under some pretty insane attempts to make them do it. If you arent already set the AVC-R to run just WGDC and nothing else and see if it goes away.

I'm going to blame it on the boost controller. Try a hallman and what bov are you using. Also what is it doing specificly. A lot of people define surging wrong. Do you mean its boost surging like the psi jumping?

I'm running a full race manifold and an HKS ssqv bov which I'll remove in few, I hate bovs to be honest

I'm also upgrading the 3" Intercooler to 4" ETS very soon

After playing with the apexi avc-r's setting it seems to have gone abit better.. I'll install the external bosch 044 fuel pump in few days and boost up, I'll let you know
