Question White cup looking thing on Transfer Case

What is the purpose of that white looking cup thing on the top of the transfer case? Can it leak? I just had my transfer case gear oil changed at a shop and had a leak that has stopped a few days after wards. I changed the oil again thinking that i was low on gear oil, not noticing that there is a pool of clear gear oil on the left side of that crevice next to the white looking piece on the transfer case.

Is it possible that some gear oil spilled on that side when it was changed at the shop? I have not had a leak since it initially stopped the first time.

This! Its a one way valve to vent pressure build up. Like a PCV system.
