I mean how long do the motors last lol

if your looking for mileage numbers i can say if held up super strong for 55k+ miles. and also consider i use to go to the tracks every wednesday and beat on it. and this is DD abuse also.

no complaints here, if your worried about the turbo, honestly they dont have problems just people get sick of it and want to go bigger!

I sam not sure that the Red is the highest torque producer amongst the many stock-framed turbo options. I suspect that both the HTA Green and the BBK-Full are better torque producers than the Red.

after owning a red i wish i would have went t3/t4, i told myself id just be running a stock manifold and wasnt looking for big numbers but just like everybodys addiction for more power i ended up buying a mona lisa manifold so really im limited to going with a black if i ever want to go bigger, id go 35, itd be alittle more laggy from what i hear but it should give you alot more room to grow and progress your build

Just looking to make nice power on stock motor. Without over doing and having a too laggy setup.. Hoping to have a low 11 sec or possibly high ten sec car.

Thats right at the level of having the cake and eating it too A Red can do it, heck even a Green can do it, but the engine is getting flogged. If longterm reliability is more of a concern and not having to build a motor this is where 35Rs start looking good.

So the 35r would last the longest in your opinion?

Since you included the 35r into the equation, I'd go with an FP Black.

The downside of the larger turbos is the street fun factor. If this is your daily driver, I personally would not recommend the large turbo route. I drove a very nice 35R HTA setup and it was just dead or flat under 5k. It was wonderful from 5k rpm to 8500 rpm, similar to my 1971 911S, but I did not think it made a great 'street car'. Now if you went with a built stroker motor or a 2.4L, then a larger turbo could be great.

I chose the HTA Green because I wanted a turbo that met my goals - (1) responsive (transient response is rarely discussed on here) and (2) be able to make around 450 - 500 whp. Currently I am somewhere around 450 whp, but could be higher if I had cams. At 450 whp (with 390 ft-lbs of torque), the car is a blast to drive. The car screams above 4K rpm and is more power than most need for a street car.

I just bought an evo 9 with an hta green on it. The car is definitely a blast to drive! Spoolup is just like stock to me. The turbo screams in the upper rpm range. I have gsc s2 cams as well which helps me up top. One advantage with the green is, you dont have to worry about all the crazy oil recommendations like you do with the black or red,.

I came from my 1g dsm on a 3065, I will say the bigger turbo felt like it broke your back when it was at full boost. You def. had to wait for the spool up though.

If I were to judge by how hard my new evo pulls, I would thinkg my old 1g would walk all over it. But when I pay attention to how fast I pick up speed, the evo would annihilate the talon.

Id say, if your still dd this car, forget the 35r. I would stay with the stock frame turbo anyday. If your worried about torque killing the motor, stay with a green. Mine made 431whp/392ft lbs. I am in the safe factor of torque by far still. This is on e85 as well. I plan on gettin a double pumper and some bigger injectors, then Ill go for a little more.

I gave my motor hell on a consistent daily basis with a minimum of 33psi on my stock turbo, 37psi on the red and black, and 37psi on the hta82. At one point, my car made 580wtq @46psi on the fp black and didn't even flinch. In the end I believe my rod failure was a combination of high power and rpm, not from simply exceeding the sceptical "450wtq limit".
I was reading your thread. 46 psi is nuts! did you have head studs or aftermarket headgasket?

hitting 9s on the stock block is very impressive

was this your dd?!?
