Now if you went with a built stroker motor or a 2.4L, then a larger turbo could be great.

I chose the HTA Green because I wanted a turbo that met my goals - (1) responsive (transient response is rarely discussed on here) and (2) be able to make around 450 - 500 whp. Currently I am somewhere around 450 whp, but could be higher if I had cams. At 450 whp (with 390 ft-lbs of torque), the car is a blast to drive. The car screams above 4K rpm and is more power than most need for a street car.

Yeah really don't want something that is dead under 5k.
I've read the fp red hits 20 psi at 3700 that doesn't sound to bad and has killer topend

Well hitting 20 psi by 3700 tells just part of the story and FWIW I don't believe Reds hit 20psi on a stock 2.0L motor by 3700. My HTA Green hits 20 psi in 3rd gear (starting around 2500) by 3600/3700 rpm and a Red is generally more like 4200+ (from all the logs I have seen). What is missing is what is the transient response like compared to a slightly smaller turbo ? IMHO, for your goals, the HTA Green would be a better street turbo.

fp og green:2007 - sold in 2008 for the red- 2009 blew motor -sold red- got black in 2010

^ Thanks for sharing. I agree 100%. Most folks get caught up with the peak numbers and fail to understand how important a broad power curve is (both for fun and speed). Curt Brown just did 10s and ~137mph with the HTA Green - crazy fast if you ask me. (A brand new Porsche 911 Turbo S or ZR1 are in the 11 sec. range.) Bigger is not always better....

I actually asked curt brown what he thinks of the green, red and black. He said he likes the green the best. He said I would hate the red to laggy for street.

i run 28psi on just 93 everyday. once i finish all the new parts and get the retune ill also be getting a Q tune also. conservative?! hell no i want power but like i said my car was virtually stock so Ivey could only push it so far. and then again with him, he wont go a real aggressive tune.

and one more thing, since i was reading all the other posts before i commented back i remembered ive also been running the deadly Mobil 1 also. so honestly idk what the hell these guys are saying about Mobil 1 destroying your red and black?

27 psi is alot on 91 .in a quest to hit 400whp i blew a motor.but with the more knowledge of the evo thats has come in these past few yrs. i think i couldve done a better job at obtaining those numbers .but i was also learning alot at same time.various options i couldve took before hand..so have learned alot from reading and researching and talking options .
my new motto .simplicity is the key.4g63 is a proven platform .i ran mobil 1 until i switched to the red i ran redline 10w 40 fully synthetic.i just didnt like the mobil 1 for the viscosity breakdown and color destortion imo , after a few hard drives..but thats a different story.

i voted for hta green ..

hitting 9s on the stock block is very impressive

was this your dd?!?
I had regular ARP headstuds installed 1x1 method. The head was never removed from the car. Yes this is my daily driver. My car weighs just over 3,000lbs w/ a/c, full interior, in dash navigation, etc...

I got the red

The red is great! I only run 93 octane and I love it on the street. I hit max torque at 4260rpm which is 367ftlbs on Buschurs dyno. Bolt ons stock cams, stock head, stock block.

Why so? Please expand and elucidate your reasoning for our benefit. Thanks.

When I first got the FP Red it died on me within three months with the new oil line. It was replaced with no problem and its running fine with the stock oil line for over a year. Now forced performance is stating that we need a special oil to run in our cars so we won't blow our turbo and that mobile one is no longer good anymore. If mobile one is trusted to run in our high performance engine as well as other makes and models for many years why is it all of a sudden not good enough anymore. Plus the new HKS turbo gets about the same horsepower on 93 octane as the red does and it's a ball bearing turbo. Which means better reliability and faster spool for the same price.
