apexi intake and now p0234 (engine overboost)

So I installed the intake and induction box. I'm taking it out for a drive, and 4th gear wot into fifth I hear a bang, like a misfire. The cel comes on and its a p0234 eng overboost. The only mods I have are turboback exhaust and invidia test pipe w cel fix. What could cause this issue? I searched and didn't really find anything. I know I'm gonna need a tune but is this normal? Maybe another issue? And did I hurt my car?

That code will always come up, you clear it and it shouldn't come back on. But unless you get a tune the code will turn on and you will get that bang when going WOT.

You don't have a tune right? A tuner can make the tweak to fix it.

No tune yet. They are closed for the holidays. So why is it doing it? Not enough fuel to handle the new air?

Maybe the car is overboosting and the OEM ECU do a boost cut, it is easy to do, but it is needed to do, until you get the tune do some wot starting at high rpm to not produce this much of boost.

Did you mess with the vac. lines off the W/G actuator at all? If that became disconnected or damaged, you can lose your vac. signal to the WG and overboost.

Hook up a manual boost gauge and see what PSI your hitting. Also, double check your install to be safe.

Yea it sounds like you're hitting boost cut...looks like the intake upgrade is now making you hit higher loads. As a bandaid until you can get a retune or have your boosy cut limit raised...just lower the boost a couple lbs which will in turn lower the load the car see's.
