Now talking about fuel pumps... What I have right now is a single Walbro 255 #GS342. Would I come up short? What other options do I have? I am going to use VP Q16 fuel and I have 1200cc injectors.

Thanks.

One walbro isn't going to support the 7670 on q16, you might get away w/ pump, but not the higher boost level. You need a buschur double or a custom set up. I know there are other doubles (such as full-blown) but my friend is having starvation problems above 1/4 tank w/ that particular set up.

If you are road racing a lot I would suggest a surge tank set up. I have a customized AMS set up that they don't make anymore (2 255s feeding tank [was already in the car], and 2 044's feeding rail) with the surge tank mounted where the evap used to be. Radiumauto.com (radium engineering) makes some really nice universal set ups (they usually cater to the lotus crowd) that would work really well trunk mounted or if you can somehow find room in the engine bay haha.

We have seen 1x walbro 400lph pump supply enough fuel for 450kwatw (600whp) on a dynapak dyno, with no mods to the fuel system (stock lines, rail and FPR. Upgraded wiring). That was on E85 with 2000cc injectors

I know that Mr.Fred has tested the Aeromotive/DW 360/400LPH pumps and he's out of fuel just after 500whp(ER's DJ) on E85?

I don't think a single fuel pump can keep up with the 7670 on E85. I would be VERY cautious to see your fuel map starting to turn the corner of the page up. Meaning you're running out of pump and you're compensating by increaseing the IPW (and thus duty cycle) of the ID2000's to make the AFR's meet what they should.

This is really easy to see with Hyperboost comp. Evosdad, I would be VERY wary that you have enough pump... lowering the base pressure improves it's performance when under boost (30psi), but the pump's performance at 70psi is a lot worse than what it is a 40psi.

I might be wrong, but I suspect you're very close to being in trouble.

a single gs342 is good for roughly 500whp on q16 on an sti (evo should have another 25-50whp headroom) before the pressure drops and you have to compensate with more idc. my sti was tuned like that on the dyno and once loaded on the street afr instantly went 2 full points leaner. swapped an 044 in and went 4 points richer.

FWIW I'm not comfortable pushing the limits of a fuel pump. I've seen volts vary too much from when the car is cool to when it's hot. Plus the pump output can vary when fuel temp changes, especially with E85. It's best to keep a little reserve capacity so the pump can keep up with demand in all conditions.

If I needed more than a single Walbro, I sure would be looking into getting the high-current electrical device out of my fuel tank completely and going with a good external pump like these fuelab pumps. Variable speed motors, high electrical efficiency, high quality, they even accept pulse-width modulated electrical input for speed control. They make them bigger and smaller than these 2 in the pic.

I've used it twice before, but nothing in the past 2 years. Why?

i bought a 41402 for my evo originally, but after reading about the high failure rate on the supra forums i bought a pair of 044's. fact is there isnt a big single that is reliable. not even the weldons.

Nice numbers - will you be sharing the dyno plot? Be good to hear how it drives etc.

Also, never seen an older model EVO on here - at least that isn't from NZ or Australia... very cool, that should be an animal!
