Debating on changing my cams...

On the fence as if I should swap out my cams this year or not.

Specs on my car:

Stock block/head (Even stock head bolts, arps going in soon)
Stock Ecu (Self tuned)
HKS 280s
AMS 35R
4"FMIC
3" QTP Cut out
All other supporting mods.

I run strictly 93 octane in my car. 32-33psi daily.
Multiple drag runs. Best time up to date 11.28 @ 127mph 1.8 60'

I have been trying to get my 10s pass, but my launching skills have not been that great I shall admit.

I was going to upgrade the turbo to an HTA86 this year or may even stick to the 35r. I also plan on porting my intake manifold.

I don't mind the mild 280s in the car right now, it was great on all my previous turbo setups from, stock 8 turbo, IX ported, 3065, etc.

I was debating wether I should look into FINALLY upgrading such mild cams to something more aggressive.

What do you guys think? Just trying to get some ideas.

you should have already but i would get some headwork done, at least upgrade the valvetrain. I can only imagine what you are revving that up to.

I plan on breaking into the 10s with stock block/stock head. Once that goal is achieved I will be even planning a motor build for next winter. I am revving the motor to 8200.

At that level with that turbo, S3s will work nicely. Here is a set doing work on a stock block w/ Black-

I don't see how it's luck? Have owned the car for over 3 years, no issues?

I also have a few customers running similar setups on completely stock block/head going low 11s at the track. A lot has to do with the tune!

John, thanks what is the lift on these cams? I'm assuming valvetrain upgrade is a must?

I was thinking about switching to the s2s. It's gonna be an adventure to see how far the stock block will hold if I replace the 35r with the HTA86.

I don't plan on running the same boost levels, perhaps 25-28psi on pump.
