Valve cover gasket

My valve cover gasket was leaking so I had it replaced with a brand new OEM one. It was fine for about 3 months then it started leaking oil again. Is this a common problem for our cars? Or is there a certain procedure we have to follow? Maybe retightening the bolts after a certain amount of time? I followed the procedure in the manual along wig proper torque specs and tightening order. Thanks

Mine would loosen up after a while, I retightened them three times or so in 7k miles. I run the three AMS poly bushings though it would start to leak a little and i'd just snug them up, leak gone.

Sorry to say I've never had mine leak. I don't think it's a common problem.

When you say OEM do you mean it came from Mitsubishi? The reason I ask is that the gasket style hasn't changed over the years but the old ones used to leak. Apparently, there has been a change made to the material they are made out of. Also, did you use RTV in the corners like the manual instructs? And, yeah, it is a good idea to bring the bolts back to torque after a few thousand miles.

I'm surprised you are having this problem. It might be that your valve cover is cracked.

Yes, it is genuine mitsubishi valve cover gasket and I did use RTV where the manual instructs. The weird thing is that it was fine for about 3 months. Then, it started leaking again. I've inspected hte valve cover several times for cracks but found nothing. hopefully, it's not some hairline cracks... Thanks for all the replies!!!
