Yup... When you rebuild these pumps I've noticed that the majority of people will have a 50/50 chance of getting it working again while most others won't be so lucky. It's all good, at least you know what it looks like on the inside and a nice paper weight if you clean it up.

hi, my unfortunate encounter with the pump. Yet unsolved.

I read thru the forum n did wat i can but not taking the pump off as i have to use the car often.

My experience:

First fault code extraction: 45 and 82.

Second after removing batt: 65 and 82.

Last: 46, 72 and 73.

I have tried hard wiring the pump. No response. No activiation using the pedal method. Initially, 3 lights on only after driving round the neighbourhood. After disconnecting and checking the wires, the 3 light is on the moment i power it (w/o starting). Relay is clicking, fuse is good and no wet footwell. Pump looks good from outside. No sign of corrosion.

Is there a reference reading for the electric motor disconnected? or any specs on the sensor and valve so i can source 1 in my area, as no 1 in my area does a repair/refurb. they normally change the whole unit.

Btw, i'm a evo lover from Singapore, riding a Evo VIII GSR.

Thanks for reading.

EDIT: clutch job 1 yr bk, Alighment & susp tuning 3mths bk, batt changed 3 mths bk.

Status on my Acd Pump Rebuild

Hi guys,

Sorry it's taken me so long to upload my pics and let you know the status. I ran into major corrosion issues with the main housing bolts as well as the pump internals.

So it's true, not all of us are as lucky as others (Chicago weather ftL). I was forced to drill the bolts out affecting the integrity of the whole set up. This of course is not going to stop me from trying.

Before I continue, I wanted to ask; Does anyone know how many of the round seals this pump has originally?

I know of 3 so far (1 for each section of the pump). I am going to replace all the seals and 1 of the middle bearings, as soon as I find all the correct sizes.

I'm going to upload the pics a bit later, sorry again. Very busy.

If you apply direct 12v power to the pump and you don't hear any noise then it is definitely done. The corrosion is not visible on the outside as many others (including I) have thought. The corrosion occurs on the internal bearing that holds the electric motor shaft in place while it spins.

I was only able to see 3, however I believe the lack of seals would be the main issue for this corrosion problem occurring. It's a shame that we can't speak to Mitsubishi North America about this problem and have it covered under the corrosion warranty.

I have remove the pump from the car. Thought it might be wiring problem. Apply 12V again to the motor, no response.
So went ahead to open it up. everything was good. applied 12V again..viola, it spins...internal no corrosion at all..everything looks new..so clean and assemble it and put in back to the car..The pedal method works!! Fresh ATF and bleed it..my ACD is alive again!!

I do have the bearing size but i have no idea of how to post the pics.

Written on the bearing: KOYO JAPAN Z1009

hope this helps.

The instruction here is wonderful. Follow it and nth will go wrong. Now i am helping a frene on it X..hope it can be revive.

glad that it worked out for you

there are a lot of sites where you can look up the bearing part number having the proper size and if you know how it looks.

That is exactly what happened with mine. Wasn't responding to 12v when it was assembled, but once dissassembled it started working again.

Good pump, but it won't turn on??

Possible acd pump pressure sensor? My pump won't even attempt to turn on. Anyone seen this?? I searched high and low for answers. The pump works with 12v power, but won't turn on whatsoever when the car is set to on and the gas pedal is pressed. I hear the relay click and then 10-12 seconds later the relay clicks again as if is was supposed to initiate the pump. I'm so lost. I disassembled the pump and it looks good and works great when I hook it to a power source, but when plugged in.. Nothing. Another issue is I can't bleed the pump because it will not turn on and build pressure.... Any help would be great. Thx!

Have you verified that power is getting to the pump when installed on the car? Have a buddy put a meter on the leads when you put your foot down.
