Dang ACD pumps!! I have the same problem so I thought i would bleed it. I hit a deer but I never got any lights. Took my car to the shop to get everything fixed, and when driving it away after i picked it up a couple of miles the lights turned on. They did have to replace the left headlamp.

So I bled the system using the "disconnect the relay and jump the wires" method, reset the battery and it went away for just a few days. Now its back!!

question about these pump/abs failures

Allright boys, just like most of you my lights are all on, acd control unit pops up code 82 for the pump, but also code 65 ( abs )..........

my pump runs ok, fluid was a little below the min line, and I will attmpt a bleed out , but in the meantime, do you think my abs code 65 is the real issue?

What is weird to me is that if I really had abs issues I should be able to pull the code directly from the abs unit........ ABS itself says no fault codes..

Penny for your thoughts............

no, pump code #82 is not related to ABS subsystem.

If the lights come on, and I turn the car off for a few seconds, I can turn it back on and not have the lights anymore, until the car sits for a while again. Any ideas would be helpful.
Apparently in your situation, your pump has bad seals or faulty pressure switch. When the fluid warms up or gets less viscous the seals (due to corrosion) won't hold the fluids any longer and allows the pump to leak fluid pressure internally. It usually means your pump motor is functioning however, your pump is not producing the correct amount of pressure required to operate.

Im sorry for bumping old threads and at the same time doing a partial hijack for the O.P.

But, I was wondering if when these ACD pumps start going out, are you guys getting transfer case growling or other noises ?

Please help because I wanted to sell this car months ago, but have just been fixing problem after problem.

Something I found, I jumped pins 1 and 4 on the obdII port and pulled code 82 from the ACD lights and abs lights. When I normally start my car and run it the abs light is off and the ACD lights come on. Any thoughts about this since now I'm thinking something is wrong with my abs too but hopefully nohin is wrong.

alot of us who are changing pumps got an 82. Sorry dude, you can go through the procedures in this thread, but its probably game over on the pump.

Lights are off and when they come back on because the system senses low pressure and goes disabled mode.

You may even hear the pump running but its not building quality pressure.

Yup the pump runs... Already made an appt with the dealer. Also to add, I did hit a deer on the driver side and had to change out the radiator support drive side headlight, intercooler, ac fan, hood and driver side fender. Hopefully the dealer can say it's from the deer hit so my insurance may pay for it. It did start happening after I picked the car up from the shop after they fixed it.

I drove my car for over a year with all three lights on. There are no negative effects. When I finally did change my pump out the car drove exactly the same, at least I couldn't notice any difference in daily use. On a track that may be a different story. From what I understand, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, if the pump fails you still have the regular function of an LSD in the center diff. It just won't lock up when the ECU calls for it, ex. when accelerating in a straight line. Basically it will be like an Evo VIII.
