You can but I wouldn't. That's the main reason it too me so long to do this because I needed to drive my car around. In theory there shouldn't be a problem but you never know.

mine looked like this beforehand... not so after a metal brush
so give it a try, perhaps its gonna work for you too.

Just took the pump apart, everything looks very clean, nothing like the horrors you guys got. Tried hot-wiring the motor now that it's out of the pump assembly and it worked perfectly, yesterday while it was in the assembly it didn't. I guess we'll reassemble while checking the wiring.

the more success stories with that PITA pump, the better

i'd also try looking up that bearing in question if it can be re-ordered from bearing suppliers..

Here are some pics of my pump/motor assembly. As you can see it looks pretty good compared to others in this thread. Once the pump was reassembled I hotwired it again and it worked fine, I went in the car and did the WOT check and it worked as well. Now wondering if it's either a sensor that went bad or if it was some sort of air bubble in the system.

Wow definitely better than mine. The bearing isn't an issue as long as the pump isn't exposed to the elements. I would actually try some silicone sealant as well to prevent moisture from going in. See how it runs for a few more days, if you need sensors I can try to sell you mine as I know they work and can try to test it as well.

@justastockevo:
At this point mine is just gone. I'm not able to even separate the housing apart so there really isn't much I can do even if I manage to clean it up. I also didn't take a picture of what the bearing looked like on the inside casing with the *****. It was completely rusted and no lubrication was present as it must have broken down due to moisture contamination.

if its the pump then its code 82, if its the sensor would it still be code 82 as well? I do the throttle test and my pump still runs for 20 secs or so and then the lights come on.

also, i think as for the seal from the weather and elements, couldnt we use black or blue glue. kinda like gasket maker isnt it?

You could just make sure it doesn't get on the shaft of the motor.

Most likely your is not generating enough pressure so there could be an internal leak in your system of a bad press sensor or solenoid.

If it's the pressure sensor, where can I pick one up or just get a new pump?

Well I'm happy to report that after reassembling the pump, refilling the reservoir and bleeding it, everything is running fine! The 3 ACD lights haven't turned back on! What's odd is that we didn't actually change anything when we took the pump apart, we just disassembled it, saw that everything was fine, reassembled it and now it works!

Wierd... is there anything you did other than just putting it back together? did you reinforce the gaskets so moisture wont get in?
