Doublechecking the motor, its the semi annual bearing inspection. I am going to try to have it ready for the dyno tomorrow, no promises. I have 8 cars to do today so its limiting my time I can spend on it. I wont post in this thread until I have a dyno sheet

Bearings looked primo for 12,000+ miles and being revved to 8700.

It will be Tuesday for sure on the dyno. I worked until about 8pm friday and then was right back at it saturday with 3 more cars. Luke wants to make sure I dont get fried, so I am taking monday off and then be back on the case tuesday and get some idea of what it does.

In the meantime I have street tuned the car and noticed 2 or 3 interesting things. It doesnt feel any slower on the street than the 3586, it leaned the AFR out 1 full point at 22psi which means its moving more air, its loud like a Black.

Aaron. when you checked the bearings and they seemed good did you through in new ones anyway?? if so why not? is it ok to do so and if not how come??

reason i ask is my car is going to my engine builder and he is dropping the pan. checking the bearings, and trq on some stuff. just to make sure the car is healthy.

I left them in since they were looking okay. It is okay to change them as long as you put something that is going to maintain assembled clearances or if anything a tad looser depending if the motor was originally built with less rpm in mind. We have noticed bearing wear is generally pretty even, the outboard bearings are the first to go and the first to get checked. They looked good so back together it went. That and I had kinda been tying up a lift for longer than I should have

What oil have you been running in the motor over the past 12k miles and how often have you been changing it?

Valvoline 20w-50 for the first 6000 (30w non detergent on the break in, first 50) then Brad Penn semi syn for the last 6000. Never anything other than 20-50 after the break in.
