Should I go C.O.P or NOT?
The phrase "NonCdi" was coined right HERE at Spark Tech to differentiate between our CDI systems. Since we have 65 different options covering Evo 1-X we needed a quick way to say the one without cdi
Glad to see it has become a household name (on Google as well). The NonCdi cop turns 3yrs old on June 19th 2011. Here is the original launch thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ally-here.html
To the OP, in our initial testing of this system we saw 8whp gain back to back on a 300whp dd evo. Many customers report a 2-3mpg increase (something that has become more important with these gas prices)
With over 750 Spark Tech NonCdi's on the market and an Excellent track record. Spark Tech's systems are also backed by the best warranty in the industry" 2yr Guarantee on the coils, lifetime on the harness/workmanship. This means if you purchase a S/T NonCdi for atleast 2yrs you will be guaranteed spark. If a coil fails it will be replaced, if a harness is defective it will be replaced with a NEW one.
Take a look at this independent testing that was done by a well known shop some year ago. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/se...ned-27whp.html
Here is a snippet from that thread "
We went on to try other plugs which did not make any more HP and actually lost power.. We tried the DLI and it lost HP.. We switched back to the Original Plugs and Sparktech Ignition and went to tuning from there.. We got it to pull a consistent back to back 411-413hp on LESS BOOST.."
One of the Quickest/Fastest Stock Block Evo's runs our NonCdi cops. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/dr...-138-67-a.html
If Mitsubishi didn't deem it necessary to design a cop for the Evo X they could have just used the existing coils from the 8/9. They even went a step further and made the Evo X Sequential Ignition. While they did work they were not designed for the extreme power that the average Evo has at it's disposal. Let's remember there were NO FpReds, Blacks, BBK's, HKS ballbearing upgrades available. Factory coils on the Evo 8/9 are the same as the Evo 4-7 the design is old.
We continue to do R&D here at S/T and have developed systems like the Sequential NonCdi cop for customers running standalone ecu's. These are essentially PnP systems with NO cutting or splicing. It's an affordable way of utilizing Sequential Ignition. They are NOT stock ecu compatible as the stock ecu has only 2 outputs.
OP I hope this info is helpful.
