Compressor Surge & Stalling in1st Gear Due to Something Other Than BOV?

I had and Greddy Type S BOV w/single spring modification successfully installed on my EVO VIII for years, but then started having compressor surge and stalling when starting and stopping in 1st gear. I did every adjustment possible on the BOV and had the same issue with another Greddy Type S BOV. The compressor surge and stalling in 1st gear still persists.

Could these issues be due to something other than the BOV?

have you checked for boost and vac leaks? I know it's rhetorical but if you do happen to have a serious leak it could throw you in limp and cause the stalling. the spring could have lost some pressure and caused the leak.

sounds like the vacuum line for the BOV blew off or has a hole in it.

The diaphragm in the bov is probably crap...instead of replacing diaphragm get a new valve...there are to many options to list but anything is better than that greddy imo or even a stock ix valve would be better....my $.02
