Thanks for the link.

Today is 4 weeks since my car had a heart attack. At this point all I know is the head is good. Still waiting on build pricing. I'm thinking about getting the car back and parting it out. I have no clue what a roller would get me $$$ wise though so it's a tough decision.

Part of the game I suppose. Its funny. When I don't have the money to do stuff there is always $#!t available. When I have the money to get $#!t done its a waiting game.

LOL i know that feeling for sure. When you have it parts are few and far etc. to answer the questions about build time i agree 1 to 2 months BUT the fact is it will most likely be longer things you or the shop cant control like part delays as mentioned above. when i was doing my build and i sent my exedy twin off to get rebuilt by strictly modified they orded the new disc and pressure plate and the plate was on back order for like almost 2 months not there fault at all. The thing about doing a build you need to get in your head is DONT RUSH IT. The folks that do majority of them there evos are right back down because this bolt was not put in correctly tq specs are wrong etc. Speed equals mistakes take your time with the build and while your waiting other better parts will become availble dont forget while thats going on you should be saving so then you can add your built head to the list or built tranny or baffled oil pan.

You're exactly right. No reason to rush it. Good things take time. I bought a backup car yesterday which at least gives me some flexibility in being patient now. New car listed in my Avatar area, yeah it's quite a difference compared to what I'm used to. 4 weeks of walking to work sucked ***!

During this downtime I will be saving money as well.

Originally I wanted to go with a built 2.3 and stock head. Now I'm considering a 2.0 so I can get a built head right away. Anyone want to comment on what I should do? built 2.3 on stock head or built 2.0 with built head? I'm asking for a low 11 second car on 93. 425-450whp on a MD would be awesome for me. I'm hoping to keep the stock 6 speed for a while yet. Hoping for earlier spool up and low end torque would be nice.

if you want true spool up then you need a 2.3 or 2.4. Again something your not considering either is parts you take off and replace you can sell to recoup some money. I say get a built 2.4 and built head. If you search the forums you can buy built heads all day long just get them to take it to a machine shop to get it fully cleaned to make sure there are no cracks and that It will operate at max level. YOU CAN SAVE QUITE A BIT OF MONEY DOING A BUILD IF YOU SEARCH FOR PARTS AND NOT JUST ASSUME THE major shop prices are always right and will net you the most power. Also headgames offers great packages for built heads. you just need to get your head ported add new spring and retainers and Cams but you can put cams in after the fact without pulling the head . the other stuff needs to be done while the head is off. But if you find a built head you can buy then pick that up and sell your oem head to recoup some funds. Building a car is like a fun puzzle see what you can do to conserve money granted you might not get it right away but the whole time your waiting guess what your saving up money money for that next part to get quicker hint hint turbo or manifold

Any updates on your rebuild?

I'm doing the same thing. Going with a MAP stage 4 head, S2's, BR 2.4LR, and an 80mm FP Red. I hope it become what I hope its going to be!!!

good luck with the rebuild!
