Mine will do that at track days as well, but has never failed. I have 100k miles and 6 years on my walbro, at least 50 track days. I do not think that you need to change it, that is normal.

My old walbro always made noise. Got louder when I was low on fuel but I got use to it. Now I'm using the DW pump, nice and quite.

My Walbro makes a crapton of noise, especially since I have no noise deadening material in my "tin can", but it doesn't really bother me. 4-5 track days + tons of hard street driving over the last year and no problems.
