Baffles in valve cover necessary?
Oh, the guy i went to had an acid bath that he used for the rest of my parts.
He said that he found out the hard way that they melt: he put in a customer's evo valve cover and when he went to take it out, it was pretty much gone haha.
The only other way i've seen it done is with various wire wheels and sand paper.

[QUOTE=Svendiesel;9520660]Theres not as much oil pressure up in the head/valve cover though, why would oil pour out? Im not saying youre wrong because I do not know the answer. Just looking to learn why. As I said, I will still be running a catch can, just without a PCV valve this time around.
To see what will happen, start your car and pull the oil cap with it running. If what you experience doesnt bother you--then your good to go.. My guess is you will see why you want to keep the baffles.

I am following this method:

I already punched the old "rivets" and got the baffles out. I will drill and tap the VC probably later tonight. It is a lot of work but I don't mind since I am doing all of this on a spare VC that I bought.

I'm not sure what chemicals will make it melt but the AIRCRAFT stripper and the JASCO chemical stripper didn't melt anything....but it also DID NOT remove the paint more than a spot here and there. Does anyone know what to use in order to strip a valve cover at home? These things have a much more durable paint over a Honda VC
I used paint stripper and it still did not remove all the paint. I would say there is still about 20% left to do. I am going to get the sand blaster out and do it properly. I am also going to grind down the ridges smooth. So I would recommend blasting it, don't bother with the stripper, it's possible but takes too damn long.
