It comes down to personal preference. Some don't use the ebc because it is another electrical part to "fail". So instead they use a mbc which can not have electrical gremlins. The part failing could cause a overboost or no boost situation.

I personally love my ebc. It is easy to adjust boost on the fly. I also use it to work in conjunction with my HFS-3 to drop boost in case of a flow error, etc.

The only time I have had trouble is when I was changing out my shifter I did not notice a wire was being rubbed by some trim and cause a fray over time. This caused me to over boost. I blew up a spark plug and got lucky. I did not have any issues for over 4yrs before that. It was an install error that caused the fray and my scare.

i prefer manual. no oscillating, easy temp compensation and guaranteed fastest spool with no spikes.

I don't understand how a mbc, which is basically a controlled boost leak, is the fastest spool when you can run a 3 port ebcs in interrupt mode which diverts all air away from the wastegate.

Ecu controlled boost with a 3 port > mbc

actually there's no boost correction for temps on a mbc unless you manually adjust it.. where as on a 3 port you can control boost based on temps via MAF IAT table automatically when the bec system is setup properly.

actually the aem has a taper just like the mbc's do.. but aem is definitely one of the better ones for sure. i did direct comparisons with aem vs ecu boost and aem killed it with its natural boost taper curve. (i could clone that curve with the ecu boost though) aem uses a mac valve also.

What aboot aem and other standalones? I fought that for months. On a cold morning i can turn the mbc half a turn. Standalone i would need a laptop.
