Possible dead fuel pump??

So lately my car has been running lean under boost and is breaking up/ sputtering when boosting. Everything seems to be ok... I changed the plugs which did not help. One thing I noticed is before, when my fuel pumps were priming before startup they sounded strong and were fairly loud. Now when I prime the car before startup the pumps sound kinda funny and almost like they're cutting out. The car has a Buschur Double pumper. Just wondering if its possible that one pump is dead or on its way out? Is there a way of testing for fuel pressure? What is the fuel pressure supposed to be with a double pumper setup? My buddy was saying that running your fuel level low can possibly damage the pumps? Is this true? Is it possible to see if there is a problem with the fuel system if I log with the AEM for injector duty cycles? Other then that anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? Any input is greatly appreciated.

If you're running a Hobbs switch that normally comes with his dual pumps, check to make sure it's working properly.

Isnt the Hobbs switch only for people running two pumps on stock ecu?

IMAO, your pumps are prety close to death ) the problem in double pumper is in a fact - pumps getting more heat and also i think it's not a good idea to put 2 non-stock pumps on a stock fuel line...

You really don't know what you are talking about. The above statement is pure nonsense and mumbo-jumbo.

AFAIK, the Buschur double pumper setups use a Hobbes switch to activate the secondary pump.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that it is running lean anyway? Are you monitoring AFR's? Have you been logging? At what boost level has it been running lean?

I have been monitoring my AFR's and doing some logging on the AEM. Boost seems to be about right but im seeing AFR's in the 12's under full boost which is scaring me a bit. That and lately it has been breaking up/ sputtering in boost. I thought maybe my meth was engaging too early, possibly fouling out the plugs and causing a missfire but that wouldn't explain the lean conditions. Right now it seems as though the symptoms are pointing towards a fuel pump. How can I check to see if this hobbs switch is bad? Is there a way to test for a bad fuel pump??

Also does anyone know if the fuel filter is re-usable? Can you just clean it out or does it have to be replaced. I read some threads with the same symptoms as mine and it ended up being a fuel filter. Im going to check that out today aswell as manually test the Hobbs switch
