Lost 4-5 lbs of boost.

Hi guys, I purchased my car with a NO Name tubular exhaust manifold, and was spiking boost to 30lbs and staying at 28-29lbs. With time I heard a small exhaust leak coming from the manifold. I tightened the bolts but the noise stayed there. Recently it started to have a louder exhaust leak noise and now I am only boosting 25lbs.

My first question, Do you guys think that since the manifold is cracking I could be loosing the ability to produce the 30lbs of boost?

Second, How good is the Megan Manifold( Prone to Cracking?) Or should I invest in a Ported Manifold from Buschur?

Thank you again for the help.

Stay away from megan parts, there crap. Buschur is EXPENSIVE but it will last. If you have exhaust leaks you will not be able to spin the turbo in order to hit your full boost. Be careful when hitting boost too becuase your boost can spike and you can hurt your motor due to exhaust leaks.

Yes that is a possibility. Your turbo makes boost from exhaust pressure, if you lose that you lose boost. The possible exhaust leak from the manifold is acting like a wastegate.

A boost leak check is always a good thing to do as well.

Thank you for the great info.. I will start looking into a stock Manifold and will send it out to Buschur for porting. I would love to get a great tube manifold from ETS but that is currently not in my budget.

^also, play your options. I've heard nothing but good things from Buschur's ported stock mani, but any shop that has a good rep should be able to port your manifold for you. E.g. - AMS, English Racing, a local shop to you, etc.
