Gearbox/Transfer Case Oil Change

Hi guys,

I'm doing a clutch install and I have OEM Mitsu fluids for gearbox as well as transfer case to put in also. I have found a method for changing the transmission fluid that I think I will be using:

This method can be used while the transfer case fluid is being changed. This is the messiest way, but is does ensure that the transfer case is full.(May require a helper)
-After draining the transfer case, use a hand transfer pump and insert the hose from the end of the pump into the transfer case drain hole.
-Tightly wrap a rag around the hose to make a seal.
-Continue holding the hose while pumping 1qt into the transfer case.
-Quickly remove the hose and reinstall the drain plug.
-Now you can remove the FILL plug, letting the excess fluid run out through the fill hole. Filling from the bottom ensures the transfer case is full.
However, I have the JDM Evo VIII which has the AYC. Does AYC have seperate fluid somewhere that has to be changed also? And what fluid should be used? I can hardly find anything about the AYC on Evo VIIIs.... So any help would be appreciated!!

That is an *** backwards way of filling the fluid, you will be fighting gravity.

ACD fluid is separate, don't change unless you want to risk running the pump low and spending $2,000 us. Dealers have the tester to drain it correctly.

Ok. Where is the ACD fluid located?
I was asking about AYC though - does that have fluid somewhere also?

The ACD and AYC use the same fluid from the same pump since you have a JDM 8. You should not have to change them. The reservoir should be located at the rear of your car on the drivers side.

The transmission fluid and fluid in the transfer case you can replace with OEM fluids when you swap the clutch.

Thanks for that.
So just for the sake of clarity, the AYC is not located anywhere on my transfer case right?

Someone else was asking about this recently:

When pulling those lines for the AYC to take the transfer case out there is no need to bleed the system after correct?
