Question 5 speed or 6 speed?

I got a 03 VIII GSR. my trans is pretty much shot. its popping out of reverse and almost out of first. im not sure if it would be better to try and fix it, or buy a new trans and swap them out. my old man is a trans builder and he said just buy a different one. but i figured yall would know for sure. also i dont know if i should get a 5 speed or change to a 6 speed. and if i got a 6 speed if it would be difficult to swap them and if i would have to do any mods? ive heard that a 6 speed wont hold up but i would say my car is making around 300 to 350 hp right now. i go to the strip a few times a month so i would want something that would hold up. and also what a good clutch would be. looking to spend between 3 and 500 for a clutch. thanks ahead of time

Shep builds a nice 6speed speed and with a lower final drive it'll move.

Stick with a 5 speed. Make sure you rebuild it and reinforce everything.

As for a clutch... I don't think your going to find a good clutch for 300-500 dollars.

Spend the extra money on something that will last you, No point in going back a year later to take everything back down to replace a clutch.
