ok so people with the quaife unit, like robi... how does it interract with abs particularly in turn... does it mess up and lock your wheels... do you have to disable abs? is a new abs ecu available upon 05 release?

why is replacing the rear not necessary... it's a clutch type in rear right?

our front diff is just an open unit?

update... torsen diffs are ok with wheel in the air situations, they have a new thing that fixes it.

THe nice thing about a Quaife style front dif is that off power it acts like an open dif for turn in and ABS issues.

Are you sure about this? All the gears inside the differential are still in mesh during coast mode and will be loaded in the opposite direction. The Quaife may have different friction coefficients inside the case for drive and coast but the biasing action should still function.

Quaife is a 2-way LSD which is why it generates initial push on turn-in.

I called quaife and asked this question a while back and they told me the same thing. Their diffs act like an open diff when coasting and braking.

A Quaife 1.5 will act as Robi says the diff is reacting..

A Quaife 2 way diff will operate similar to how 93esp is describing.

Quaife does not have 1.5 or 2 way options like clutch plate differentials. Looking at the Quaife patents during coast mode the pinions will be loaded towards the inside of the unit as opposed to the outside but they still react against the case. I don't see how this operates significantly different than a Torsen which is active in both directions.

100% before it was in my car now under testing 1000% sure the car acts just like the stocker on decel/braking at turn in and pushes earlier under less power on exit (means I rotate the car a bit more early on in the corner so I can drive it off rather than trying to keep adding steering to miss the exit curbing. (mild test in my local canyon run)

Just a point of clarification: is this a one-time thing Quaife is doing, or will there be an Evo8 front LSD available as one of their products through the usual channels/distributors?

Just asking because there are so many things I need before a front LSD, but I definitely want to get one eventually.

Mike knows more about this but...I think the magic # for Quaife is a 30 unit production run...if you miss on the first batch you might need to wait on the next "group buy..."

So how has it held up? I assume it's still in one piece... and pros / cons? Comments?

How long till it gets the "Robi Seal of Approval"?

I read in a few online posts for other vehicles that Quaife has integrated a friction device in their ATB differentials that allows it to operate as an LSD even with one wheel in the air. Anyone have any "official" source of info that confirms this?

Now that's really interesting... I'd like to know also.
