RPM Spike

I have searched but couldn't find anything.
When I floor it, the rpms spike. They spike for about 3-400 rpms. Then go back down and accelerates again.
Is it something with my clutch?

Clutch is only like 120 and if I take it to a shop maybe 100 install. Shouldn't be too much. Maybe I'll put a stage 2 in.

Clutch installs for the evo are usually in the neigborhood of 500 dollars and a decent clutch with flywheel is more than than that so plan on spending over 1000 dollars for everything.

Where did you find an Evo clutch for $120? You could purchase an Electric PTO Clutch for a Snapper lawnmower for about that price though. But, you'd have to adapt it

It's definitely your clutch. A good clutch is not going to be cheap and the install(which I hear is kind of a pain) takes 4-5 hours. Do yourself a favor and buy a good clutch that will last a while (40K+). A cheap clutch will only last about 10K-12K in an Evo. FWIW I put an ACT XTSS in mine and I've never had a single problem with it. They're reasonably priced and they're known to last up to 50K miles.

The clutch is not the place to cut corners on cost since it's so labor intensive to replace. If you're not making much power over stock, hit up mitsubishiparts.net for the best price around for the stock clutch. That way you can resurface the stock flywheel and save some money there also.

Ohh I didn't know it was a pain to install. Guess I'll be throwing a lot more money down then I thought.

Just read a great review on the ACT XTSS. Looks like I will be getting one. Will have to wait until next paycheck to install though lol.
