Oil changing interval question?
Hello all,
I picked up an 03' Evo with a built 2.0L/35r setup. The specs are in my sig. The motor is said to have about 5,000 miles on it. The previous owner stated that the oil needs to be changed every 1,000 miles. The builder specified that Mobil 1 15w50 must be used through the motor. The car is my DD and makes several 1200+ mile round trips a year and changing the oil every 1,000 miles at ~$50 an oil change isn't practical for me...at all. Does anyone think that I could extend the oil change interval to say 3-5k and not jeopardize the reliability and longevity of the motor? I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter.
Thanks,
Bob

Thanks for the response. The car sees 90% highway miles, and doesn't see ANY drag racing/road coursing. It barely sees spirited driving for that matter.
