I know that company
more or less thats what we are starting with for me. Andrew's is stock internally save a valvebody adjustment, mine will be the valvebody and frictions. We have converters covered already, that was part of the research as well.

NICE JOB!
I did something similar on the old TwinTurbo 240Z initially running a Mitsubishi Starion auto trans.
As far as power, the stock units don't typically hold much power, but in the case of the Mitsubishi Starion tranny it didn't take much to beef it up. Some better frictions and the ability to up the line pressure was all it took and the stock tranny supported 11.0@130mph all day long. My point is that I am sure simple mods can be done to make the tranny more robust. I think the biggest challenge will be getting someone to build a good converter.
My buddy Russ runs a tranny control business...

I see that he supports some Mitsu trannies so you could see if he can mod one of his existing controllers for this application.

Luke, for providing motivation to make this happen and the shop space to do it
Chris, for help with installation
Jeff, Jake, TJ, and Myles for listening to us rant about this for the last few years
Billy, for asking why cant it be done and why isnt it done yet
Mark, for your knowledge and letting us bounce ideas off you
Andrew’s wife Krys, for letting him disappear as needed
Everyone that has let me talk about it and then answer questions I asked without asking: why?
Enjoy and thanks for reading,

I may have been overconfident in the beginning but it takes that some times. I knew that we had it in us.

That doing a 5 speed auto is not worth it and the parts are rare to come by.
Internals are easy, the trans case halves are impossible. Getting one with a T-case, harness, cables, base, shifter assembly, and ECU is not cost effective. I read a post where Dave had looked into it for a customer and price quote he got at that time (2 years ago for PhillyEvo) was 3800 pounds. If the price didnt change that is just under 6100 for the transmission. I am not sure if that was just trans or the kit as I outlined it but still WAY too much money for me if its just a trans and there arent many parts out there.

I thought the 5 speed, W5A51 which I run in my Airtrek would be quite common. They run in the Airtrek, Evo GTA, Legnum VR4, Daimate, Manga and I'm sure there are others as well. Parts maybe harder to find in the US thou. I think I may start looking at trying to pick up a spare auto, so I can at least start sussing out a rebuild and options for changing the FD I have from the 3.3 it currently is.

Good to know the bell housing is different between the V6. The Legnum V6's are going so cheap here its just about better to buy a whole car just for the gearbox.
On the transfer case, I understand the auto TC can mount up to a manual, but the manual TC can't mount up to the auto. Its to do with shaft lengths.

The 6A13 and those series of motors are the same I believe. We dont have those here either so I am not sure but I have heard rumors it uses the 4 cylinder pattern. The 6G stuff (6G72, 75, etc. 3000GT or GTO) is definitely different. The newer style stuff here that would use that will be the big SUVs from Mitsu/Hyundai/Kia and I believe the AWD Pacifica.
