Those are still gonna be tough. Easier maybe but still tough. We race a local Supra with an 80mm (friend of ours) and a TH400 that runs the same ETs as us with more weight and about the same tire. He does trap 5mph higher (better converter) but we ran an 8.35 to his 8.34 in the last race we faced him in.

AWESOME. We tried to import the auto trans from Japan back when we had the Black car and it was nearly impossible to find one. It IS the solution for a bad *** drag EVO and would put one of the car in the 7's as far as I am concerned. I tried again and have feelers out for the EVO auto trans now actually, was going to put one in the RS and get it over with.

Nice work, looking forward to results and probably will have to get in line to just buy a completed kit from you guys.

I have a customer who has a handful of automatic transmissions. I didn't know they were that hard to find. Makes sense why is stock piling them. He is actually going to be sending one this way for English Racing to take a look at shortly.

Aaron, My customer does have questions in regards to axles, etc. I will give you a call a little bit later today.

Yes, to be exact he has 5. I will make sure to post up pictures of the one he sends this way and the build process. I believe they are all from an evo 7 GTA

You could always buy a whole car like this. And use the automatic.

http://www.classic-auctions.com/Auct...T-A-32884.aspx

Ninja Edit or hit up lancerregistery - they have a few GTA's for sale. http://www.lancerregister.com/showth...&highlight=GTA

I'm sure if you look in the classified section you could prob find an automatic on this board.

Yep, that's the trans and such we have tried to find/buy and get sent here. We were attempting it back when we had the black car. I can't even imagine what that car would have ran with an auto trans and good converter in it!

You friend want to sell one of what he has?

Heres an Airtrek like mine from New Zealand, supposedly this ran 400kw at the wheels and running the 5 speed auto - http://www.youtube.com/user/evoair69#p/u

The auto had been modified with higher line pressure, upgrade friction material, 4000rpm converter and a few other bits and pieces. The box still blew up. This car was converted to manual after that, but never ran and was parted out.

I get bashed for my auto, so I can't believe the amount of support for this here. The Evo GTA's are like lepers to most Evo owners in NZ.

In our research it seems the 5 speeds that hold up have MASSIVE line pressure globally to make them survive. That tells me that they dont know how to set the electronics up and are making it do solely by hydraulic pressure. This is not the best option to making them last it requires control of whats going on, we know that from the DSM.

I understand stock is 152psi and guys are taking them up to 170psi. I have not done this. All I've done to my auto is add a 2nd oil cooler. The standard one is hidden and doesn't get much airflow and is too small. I have my Zeitronix temp sensor hooked up to the line out of the auto. My 2nd cooler is above the intercooler. Temps dropped from 105c down to about 85c max by adding the 2nd oil cooler, which was actually sized for a V6.

Does anyone know if the VR4 V6 twin turbo transfer case is the same as the GTA/Airtrek?

This maybe an easy source for transfer cases, but if you got the box from these cars you'd obviously still need the correct bell housing.

Another mod I forgot I had done on my own box, was in the ecu I increased the shift pressure from TPS of 80% and above.

If you mean VR4 GTO, it is not. Not sure on what other models had VR4 in the name, we only got the GTO/3000GT and the 91-92 Galant VR4.

We have the W5A51 box in the 1996-2002 VR4, its a Galant or else called a Legnum. I use to own one many years ago. The chassis on mine was an EC5W.
