Name this mod

Hi guys. Got my evo bout a month ago. Love it so much that i hit the 4k mark early and needed an oil change. When i got down there, there is a sort of wire on the drain plug. When i unplugged it the plug is attatched to the line. Tried following it but it gets difficult on the garage floor. Any idea what it is? Please dont wreck me for not knowing the latest or "coolest" mod. Thanks in advance

Are you talking about the factory oil temp sensor?

Or an aftermarket temp sensor that is put into the oil plug. Do you have after market gauges?

Do you have an MR? Do you have stock gauges in the car? If yes to both... then its the factory oil temp sensor.

100% an oil temp sensor. be careful not to twist the wire harness up. its easy to damage these..

Yea its an MR with stock gauges. Really stock? Thats interestingly wierd because it is improper to use the open end of a wrench to break the bolt but with this attatchment its impossible to do it any other way. Thanks though fellas

I always used an open ended on the drain plug. Never was an issue. The Drain plug should never be that tight. I forget the tq specs but you should not need much on there.. Was always the easiest bolt to turn on my car ... LOL I replaced mine with an aftermarket pressure gauge so don't use the plug anymore. I also went with a fumoto valve. Makes life a lot easier. no more crush washers and drain plugs...
