P0340 Cam Sensor Code Help

9-16-13
So 8 weeks in since i sent her away to get fixed shes still broken
All the burnt harness wires have been replaced and resistance and continuity checks came out clean so no issues there. So far no shorts have been found but the cam sensor ground gets hot and the code still comes on.
Replaced both cam sensors, ecu and lots of wiring so far
Next is replacement of the engine fuse box to rule that out, for me if the fuse box does nothing then an evo 9 project will be for sale shortly

7-27-13 Update see post 14

Alright im at whits end trying to figure out whats wrong, back story -
I just installed fic 1250's and received and basemap from tscomp tuning, everything was going fine, car ran fine albeit a somewhat rough idle which i attributed to it being a basemap and it needed dialed in. I drove around carefully for a few days, and as i come to a stop near my apt she dies with no warning. I cant get her started up, sounds like she wants to start and almost does but dies immediately. The more i try to crank her the more fuel she spits into the motor. Well i ended up having aaa tow me home so i could pull codes etc. Ended up being a cam sensor code, so off i head to oreillys to get a new sensor. Pop the new sensor in the intake side first, clear the code and try starting her up to no avail. Ok so i think its exhaust side, so i try that and same result, and i have a jump pack hooked up the whole time im doing this and im using a friends full size battery. So i hop on evom and look around for answers and all i found was to check ground, check to see if trigger bolt is loose etc. so i do all that and nothing. So this morning i pull the plugs so i can see how much if any fuel is still in the cylinders, what i find is plugs 2 and 3 are fouled out and cylinder 1 or 4 [far right] has some fuel on the piston so i let it sit so it can evaporate. After a couple hours i put new plugs in, check the wiring and try again, same result and same code. So any advice on what to check next would be awesome

Thanks and sorry its a long read

Intake cam sensor and exhaust cam sensor are 2 separate part numbers. It sounds far fetched but we have seen crank sensors on the way out cause P0340s as well.

I will get the part numbers monday. Trust me they are different. If you put an exh cam sensor in the intake it will run but throw a 365.

This is the exhaust cam sensor that I used to think (and a lot of other people) was the same for both-

MD327107

Real intake cam sensor part number (also distinguished with a white spot)-

MR507814

It is also easily distinguished by the fact that its about $25 more than the exhaust cam sensor.

Have you logged MIVEC to make sure it is advancing and not locked out?

bringing this back from the dead because she's started to act up again. The local performance shop has gone through all the wiring and replaced a bunch of burnt wires but we're still getting a p0340 code and not starting. Both cam sensors have been replaced and the shop has ruled out everything but the ecu. So I have another ecu that we're going to try, but if that doesnt work then ill be dead in the water and out of ideas. So any input would be appreciated

Having same issue, have a 2003 Evo VIII, Service engine soon light is on, throwing a Crank sensor code and Cam sensor code as well, changed Cam sensor (by reading this thread i guess it was the exhaust side, im not sure on an evo VIII if its same) unplugged the battery to reset ECU, same codes pop up. I was told if it was crank that it wouldnt even start, so any ideas would be appreciated.
