So today at my autox event my car gave out on me. Luckily it was was my last run at the last corner. I know people say not to do it but I down shift into first on really tight turns and now I am getting locked out of first completely. Bad syncro you think? This is frustration as my transmission was just rebuilt around 7k miles ago including adding an OS Giken clutch. Here's to thinking your car is bulletproof after investing tons of money Anyways this is a great example on how you pay to play. I really just wanted to vent to people who understand my pain. lol

 

I feel your pain ... and especially so since you've just re-built the tranny.

Hmm, did you feel resistance when you downshifted into 1st? The 1st gear synchro should have done it best to try to stop you from doing that, but if push comes to shove it's possible to force the tranny into a lower gear that it should not be in (at that time) ... it possible that by doing that, the synchro was damaged/destroyed and that it whats prevent 1st gear from engaging.

 

I have been downshifting into first for at least six events now and it never resisted my shifts. I read a bunch before doing it and others have had success without lock out. One day I tried it on a u turn and it was fine. Once I got into my car to go home it wouldn't go into first. It completely locks me out. I got it in once but it popped right out as soon as I tried moving.
