i pulled timing out Aaron and the voltage went down a good bit and tq went up mid range.. it looked conservative ya, but it responded to less timing in a positive way. when i had him tuned on his hta86 we didnt use lots of timing either.. specifically because the car did not want it.

the log i sent him was an original.

so new thermostat has the temp WAY lower not even over 200* but it still pushes coolant over into the overflow and when it does that it feels as if the radiator hoses are empty... so something is deff. not right ill change the HG tomorrow when it shows up in the mail and report back them

can see where it looks like it was pushing into that coolant passage... also that valve (bottom right) slightly discolored thats the exact port w/ the excessive liquid...

looks like the head could use some new valve seals?
edit after thinking about it these are mostly probably from my gloves when i was lifting the head and moving it around

FYI:

If you install a Cometic head gasket and you DID NOT resurface the head and the block to the proper smoothness (RA factor) it WILL FAIL after a short period of time.

I have seen this MANY times including my own car.

You will get about a mile at highway speed and then you will hear the noise of gas pockets expanding and collapsing (kind of a loud boiling sound) from the engine compartment. This will be followed by steam emerging from under the hood. Don't keep driving. Stop, get tools and pull the thermostat.

That sucks. I've never seen that. Is that caused by overheating?

I THINK to many variables to determine ... i think the hg blew then trying to hydrolock the engine causing the piston to "rock" and take out the cyl wall as well as the piston... rod looks to be ok

Wow! Now that headgasket was pretty trashed compared to mine when I was tossing coolant out of the overflow (same thing only pulls under a good amount of boost).. I'm sorry to hear about the block man that sucks!!
