Fuel cut?!?
Fuel cut?!?
Hi guys,
So I installed a Turbo smart manual boost controller on my evo IV
and today I got some nasty continuous hesitations, in boost it almost was hesistating everytime!
I put my foot down and it made BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr noise and hesitated like a ****!
Could this be fouled plugs? fuel cut?
I have stock fuel pump and injection, hoping to upgrade to 6 ecu, 560cc inj. 255 fuel pump and so forth, with FCD.
PS. Do evo 7-9 coilpacks work on this engine?

Hi Damo,
From the description of your problem it doesn't sound like fuel cut. When I first bought my E6.5 it had a Turbo Smart dual stage manual boost controller and that couldn’t handle boost over 1bar and used to leak boost so I opted to get rid of it.
Did your problem start right after you installed the MBC?
If so try bypassing the MBC and connect your line straight to your WGA and if that fixes it then your problem is the Turbo Smart MBC.
If not:
1. Perhaps a line has become loose connected to the MBC, check and reconnect and zip tie if necessary.
2. Could be your EVO4’s oem plastic BOV has a leak they can’t handle too much boost past factory setting (mine actually ripped apart!) change it for an MR BOV
3. Have you ever replaced your 16 year old WGA these commonly leak due to their design water gets in which falls from the bonnet vents and it rusts, change it for an aftermarket one with the “umbrella design” as my specialist puts it, to prevent water going in and rusting.
4. Boost leak elsewhere need further investigation.
Incorrect /old/inaccurately gapped spark plugs can also give hesitation and sputtering at
WOT.
Your upgrade plans look good just Flash the 6 ECU once everything is installed and you won’t need the FCD.
Hope I’ve been of some help to you.

Actually sounds like you're getting spark blow out, fuel cut won't make any noise it will just feel like the engine just cuts off and the car falls on its face, make sure you have good plugs and that they are gapped properly, reduce the gap if necessary,if it goes away after that it was blow out.Let me know how it goes.
The best i've tried are NGK Iridiums BR8EIX ,if you have a cop kit you can gap them at 0.025"- 0.028" if you're still using oem coils gap them at 0.022". Here's a link to them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NGK-IRIDIUM-...2b88ce&vxp=mtr
