Will reducing IC size improve Turbo Response?
Will reducing IC size improve Turbo Response?
Hi,
just wonder will using a smaller intercooler improve turbo response?
Im currently using 600 x 300 x 70mm ic size.
Plan to switch it to 600 x 250 x 70mm or Stock Evo 6 IC...
On a GT3076R / GSC S2
Pls share.
Thanks

i have a 3" injen fmic and they claim that theres only a .01 psi pressure drop which is very impressive for its size, and i can vouch for them as i had no pressure drop or turbo lag before getting retuned and also gained power with it!

thats not enough size change. you wont feel any difference if cores are same desgn
hmm me and my friend both have it and we honestly did not see a pressure drop from our old tunes. BUT when i added my muse licp for example, i went from 25psi tapering to 22 (old tune) to 23psi tapering to 18 -_- the licp created a huge pressure drop
Trending Topics
25 tapering to 22 is not pressure drop. thats turbo running out of breath. to measure pressure drop you need boost gauge before and after intercooler
adding IC pipe and seeing boost drop is a good thing. that means system is flowing air easier. boost is a reading of how much air is not going through the engine.

youre not understanding me i was comparing the old tune 25-22 to the pressure drop of 23-18psi respectively after the LICP install -_- and yes i also stated that with the IC there was NO drop whatsoever as in the boost was the same as before with no lag neither. and yes im using my defi boost gauge which has been very spot on accuate compared to my tuners computer.
I haven't seen too much of a difference in pressure drop if any in any of my customer's cars,as long as the parts are relatively close to the same size,i had a 4" ETS intercooler with my stock Evo 9 turbo and i was getting full boost really early and holding 26 psi at 8k as evidenced by an Omni map 4 bar and in car boost gauge,i was pushing 32 psi on 93 oct at the time with Injen pipes.25 tapering to 22 is not pressure drop. thats turbo running out of breath. to measure pressure drop you need boost gauge before and after intercooler
