so here is the story, Clutch has been chattery for awhile [exedy twin cermateallic CM06H] i figure it was normal for a twin to be a bit chattery, ok so 4th gear started slipping couple weeks ago at high rpm, not all the time just once in awhile. yesterday 5th gear slipped alright it was at about the same speed 4th slips at [80mph] so i get into my garage and i put it in reverse all of a sudden while going in reverse it jerks foward?? car dies out. go to start it and once i release the clutch [in nuteral] the car dies out... wtf?
i cant push it in im all by my self, so i put it in first and slowly release the clutch and give it gas it chatterd up a ton but i made it inside pulled it out of first and it died.... inspeced clutch thru the peep hole, didnt see any issues, but the chatter is louder now with the clutch pushed in and it now starts and acts fine with the clutch release, goes into all gears just fine no issues at all just loud...
So WTF is it? my guess is Imput shaft bearing, Clutch loose or broken peice of clutch disc jammed in there worn clutch springs?? Thoughts???

oh and also the clutch has been sticking when i goto release it like a delay in when it engages in first gear at a dead stop, this just started. Not all the time just when the clutch is cold.

I could i guess but i dont see how that would help, and the me going in reverse then popping foward hard has me boggled? and the noises the clutch is making too. Also why would it die out after i release the clutch?

 

Drain the transmission. Then pull off the black plate on the bottom of the trans, see if anything falls out. Could be a possible broken shift fork. Sounds similar to my issue when my 5th-reverse fork broke.

 

it still goes in all the gears with the car on and off now... if it was a broken shift fork why the hesitation when i release the clutch. i think the TOB is getting jammed up it looks reall rusty and ****ty when i looked at it today.

and the car only has 52k miles on it, all major maintence done by me when i got it at 42k miles. With OEM fluids.

im going to drain the trans and take a peep thou, thanks.

 

Sounds like something is broken in the trans. Either a shift fork or some teeth are missing off one of the gears.

 

Yeah thats what im thinking right now too, Last night i got into it a bit more.
here is whats going on, To me
it seems its stuck in gear, hense why it jerked foward and why it died when i release the clutch. i think the reverse/5th gear fork is GONE
And also why when u shift it around and release the clutch it makes a horrible noise the shift fork is bouncing around in there.
disassemly coming this sunday, I shall do a write up on rebuilding the 5 Speed since i cand find one and i have rebuild plenty of manual trans in my day...

Sucks it all has to come apart for a $30 Shift FORK!
