PST bult it and they sell it directly.took only a week to make.it weighs a hair under 18lbs is what i was told, but i have not weighed it yet.i will later before i install it.it is a 1/2" bigger in OD that the OEM,so the carrier bearing mounts may require a little cutting/grinding.i'll report back on that as well.

call and ask for Mark.

Does this piece make it a one-piece drive shaft?

yes sir.

$1723 shipped.not bad considering the 2 piece carbon fiber shaft is almost $3000 and weighs quite a bit more.

only possible downside i can see is that you need to modify the carrier bearing housing, which to me is not a problem at all,but some people may want to retain 100% stockness.

Did they give any kind of top speed limit on that thing?

I can't believe they are making a 1-piece driveshaft that is like 6' long...

no top speed limit that i know of.i know they've been over 200mph though, and they are strength tested at 2800ft-lb of torque.

FWIW, 2800 ft-lbs on the driveshaft is equivalent to about 700 ft-lbs at the engine in 1st gear and 200 mph on a 25.5" tire is a driveshaft speed of 8800 RPM.

That's some crazy shaft speed considering its length.

actually it's probably more like 950 ft-lb and even that number is without any parasitic loss and only good for 1st gear, but my point was that it's stronger than 2800ft-lbs.i bet it's stronger than the aluminum drive shafts.

pricing and info are listed in this thread above.

$1723 shipped to my door and made in a week.contact Mark at www.pstds.com

Based on the rear diff ratio and the stock final drive, it's 700 ft-lbs. No doubt it probably is stronger then the aluminum shafts eitehr way.

Still suprised they can get stiffness high enough to avoid critical speed issues.

It's a sweet shaft for a pretty reasonable price as it's still almost 10 pounds lighter then the aluminum shafts. PSTDS also has a nice 2-piece aluminum shaft setup.

the rear end only sees half the power.i believe EVO's are 50/50 split to the front/rear.therefore the drive shaft will only see half as well.

even if you make 1000ft-lb and you keep the 4.53 final drive you still won't test the limits of this drive shaft.i don't know the record torque for EVO's,but i'm sure it can't be more than 1000ft-lb.

you been corrected on the torque at shaft. half power goes to front axles

now we need to work on that 8800 rpm shaft speed .. have you been drinking???

I'll try and find the thread, but I saw someone post a link on here to Evotuners.com. PST are vendors on their & they said it was tested up to 170mph...

Driveshaft looks badass, I am interested in seeing more people use it...
