Engine Seized? What should I do.

Ok guys here is the deal. This past weekend my car started to die when I would come to a stop and then completely wouldn't start. I had problems with my starter before so I assumed this was the case. I replaced the starter, drove it a few blocks and it died again. I towed it home and tried to turn the engine by hand and it was locked up. I was confused and checked the oil level and there was nothing left in there, just barely a small amount on the tip of the dipstick. I always change my oil every 3 months but I guess I developed a leak somewhere because there was oil all over the bottom of the engine and the exhaust. It looks like its coming from the oil pan.

So now the car wont start and seems to be locked up. Engine has almost 100,000 miles and ran really good before this incident happened. What should my next course of action be? What kind of price am I looking at for repairs? Is it worth rebuilding or should I just try to put a new motor inside?

x3.

Since your block/crank are most likely shot, I would highly recommend sourcing a 4g64 block and 100mm crank so you can up the displacement and it will still be cheaper than a 4g63 motor.

Thanks guys. Should I try to find a used 4g64? Where is a good place to look?

I don't know much about engine swaps so if someone could post some more info or point me in the right direction.

Cost is going to be a huge factor--- price what it is you are looking for first--then think about mods later--you have a big price tag to swallow rt now---going bigger, just increases the price in a lot of ways. If maintenance is an issue (?) stick with stock as the damage to a biult motor will only cost you more and because its built you need to maintain it more often. just a thought

Yes cost is definitely the biggest factor. Also I really want something already built that I can just drop in. I've done a lot of stuff to my evo but rebuilding the block seems way too much and Im not sure I would trust any of the shops here to do it.

I also am not running that much power, probably close to 365 whp with my current mods and I don't plan on upgrading too much more in the close future.

I just want to find the most cost efficient way to get this car running again. A stock oem motor though is like 2700 for the short block. Im also not sure how healthy the head is so that might need to be repaired too.

Thats why the website I posted looked good, 4,299 for a stage 2 motor and also 2,795 for a stock rebuilt engine. But I just don't know how reliable that company really is.

So if anyone can tell me what the best plan is here. Keep in mind the fact that I won't be able to rebuild the engine myself, and some shops here aren't that great imo.

You can usually pick up full, working, stock longblocks in the classified for 2000-2500. Stock shortblocks can be bought for 800-1500.

Are you really sure it's seized? Try putting the car in 5th gear and rocking it back and forth.

Well i tried that but in second gear, didn't seem to do anything. I can't try it again in 5th because as luck would have it, some idiot hit my car as it was parked outside and now i gotta go through the insurance to fix the damage they caused. I won't be able to work on the engine until I get it back from the shop.

So for now Im just searching for the best option on fixing the engine and getting the car road ready again.
