Update. The car is all put back together now on the trans side of things. I am confident this time that it should stay together on the trans/converter/bolt side of things. This project has been such a large PITA and so much experimenting and such to get it all to fit and work. I've had multiple people help assemble it all and this is the first time I've personally done the entire job beginning to end in the car. I studied it all and took a lot of measurements and time to get it together. I don't think there was a single piece that was actually ideal until now. Everything was replaced, changed or machined in one way or another. The crank bushing, the crank bolts, the torque converter bolts, all of it is now maxed out for dimensions and strength.

On a ****ty note, the converter bolts got lodged between the block and flex plate and took the cylinder head out, this has happened before. So tonight, time willing, I'm going to take the head off and have the valves replaced and repaired in it.

Dave,

My hat definitely goes off to you. You've stayed persistent in this project and I've enjoyed following it. I guess that's what makes you one of the top companies in pioneering new products for the Evo market. Look forward to results!

Thanks everyone.

There are some positives to this. Every time this has happened before the input shaft has broken. So it appears to me that we have the case and the input shaft figured out, the input shaft has made it through 3 broken converters and/or converter bolts now. So that's a plus.

The head should be done today and I'll work on getting the car back together.

I spent an hour or so on the car last night. I was short a tube of silicone and a thermostat housing gasket so I didn't finish it up. The car should be running and running better than it has in quite awhile tonight.

The head had been damaged a few times before and we just kind of threw it back together. This time we put new Supertech SS intake and Inconel exhaust valve in it and got the stem heights back where they were suppose to be. I believe the cam timing was off a bit previously too from some other carnage. So we will see. I can't wait to drive the car.

Silver lining. As much flack as you get for being ornery its also that character trait that makes you who you are.

most would've given up a long time ago. Glad you aren't most. I may never have a need for this but its an awesome project and shows the platform is still very much alive.

And for that I salute you.

As long as you've been in the game (I remember when I used to read about in Sport Compact Car over 20 year........Sometimes it just needs to be said. I'm sure you know you are appreciated but I felt the need to put into words....for all the ignorance and annoyance the internet brings, sometimes a strangers positive energy and words can turn even a crappy day into a decent one.

I am rooting for you. Excited for the results. Good luck.

Dave is far less ornery than he used to be.... Getting old tends to mellow us out, and face it Dave, you're getting old
