quick stall question
quick stall question
my car was just freshly tuned and runs great so im pretty sure this is my driving style . I was going fast from the previous pull then had to stop fast at the next light from 4th or 5th i believe to neutral under hard breaking the car stalled. Is it because i slammed it to neutral and upset the car? should i just leave it gear next time until im almost at a stop? its sort of like what happens with the a/c on. Stock evo 9 DV btw.

yes im back up and running now, feels great to know what a real evo feels like!! and the blowoff valve i believe is not VTA, im not sure. It makes a woosh sound if that helps, im lost on the bov thing i tend to not worry about it bc the one i have is the best for my setup. and if this info helps im pretty sure i was going up a slight incline approaching the light i stalled at.

if it is VTA that’s your problem. just look and see if there’s a tube coming from your BOV that goes to your intake. if you are re circed here are some possible cause
when was the last time your MAF was cleaned? if the filter in your AEM is one of the wet styles that require oil, then oil can be sucked in to your intake track gumming up you MAF.
Also a lot of aftermarket intakes don’t come with a flange to bolt down to the car, they are kind of just bolted to the turbo inlet and hanging/resting there. with that being said... EVO's are known for bogging down when there is a lot of vibration of the MAF. for you case in point the hard pull cause the engine to torque and move then the sudden drop in RPM allows it to move back and that with hard braking can cause you MAF to get jarred around and affect its reading.
One problem i had was my turbo inlet coupler was torn on the bottom and i couldn’t see it cause me to bog down and stall at some points of driving.
There could also be a boost leak.....
Hope you figure it all out!!!

havent tryed it since, i probably cant reproduce the stall unless i keep trying it will only happen once in a while, i cleaned my filter with a cleaning kit not to long ago maybe the mafs dirty from to much oil. Also i can see what you were saying about the intake being able to move i would imagine while its under load and then lets out its violently shakes. but when i had this issue with my ac on in the summer i tightened my turbo inlet t-bolt and it stopped the idle drop, maybe when my car was in the shop it was not put back on tight.
