stick with 35r or switch to hta green?
Ive had pretty much every turbo between stock 8 all the way thru 35r. My evo 9 had stock turbo, 50trim, 3576 non bb and 3576bb and my evo 8 has had stock turbo, fpgreen and fp black. I have never understood the talk about street power most streets are limited to 45-65mph and to me their is no difference between my 100hp civic and my Evo on the streets. For the record my fpblack destroys greens and reds from a stop and a roll. Id keep the 35r go e85 with all the supporting mods and proper tune and you will have low end power all the way thru redline.
I would vote Red, however, there is something about the top end of a 35r. To me, a super fat but flat torque curve isn't all that fun. 5K boost isn't fun, but in my opinion something like a Red making full boost at/before 4K is ideal for a DD. A Green to me doesn't have enough top end punch and spools a bit too quick.
Try to find some local evo owners ask to go for a ride, that have different setups only way youll get a feel for your true enjoyment of a car, I love my red dont get me wrong, but a 500 hp 35r evo is laggier but a different type of seat punch Imo. Me personally I could sacrifice some top end punch for a more usable powerband, I wouldnt do a green, while quick spooling and good useable powerband quick spool and boost can affect city mpgs. I prefer my red because its not close to spooling rpms till 85+mph. So lag might not be efficient for a quick light to light race, but to me lag means wait for the fun to hit, but also better mpgs. So i would drop to a black or red if your serious about getting rid of your 35r, or depending on your hotside size you could replace it with a smaller hotside which would help with spool lag. Good luck.
keep the 35r for sure. lots of head room. you can make 600+ with basic parts. on a moderate amount of boost. prolly more than you're comfortable with. but i've had both the red and the 35r and the 35r ****s all over it. i made 100 more whp with a lot less boost and less timing.
