Get my ix to 400whp!
Hi everyone! Im currently sitting at 337whp with my 06 evo ix with only 3"tbe, walbro 255, turbosmart boost controller with boost around 26psi, drop in panel filter and of course a perfect English racing tune by Aaron! So now that $ is doing a bit better im shooting for 400whp on 94 pump. My plan is currently Ets 3.5" wide tank w/ ets v2 licp, gsc s2's, springs and retainers, and then new tune from Aaron. Will this get me to 400 on a stock block with 50k and stock 9 turbo? Lets hear some options and opinions!
Lol ^^^^^ I made 337hp usdm, E85 is basically non existent up north here. Was thinking of water/meth also in a sad replacement for E85. Can the stock turbo do 400 with stock wastegate?? Kinda dont have funding to do turbo yet or build block but ive seen lots of peeps running stock block/turbo making 400, probably on that glorious E85 though

I agree with evo8426's guesstimate. I figure 15-20HP(IC) + 20-25 (cams). So, for me it works out to 40-50 WHP max. This puts you at 337 + 45 = mid 380's..give or take.
I think that the main bottleneck given the octane level of the available fuel is the turbo. You'll need more compressor flow to reach 400WHP comfortably. So, in addition to the cams and IC, I might consider a compressor wheel upgrade to the FP 71 HTA.
This is seemingly a relative bargain at $600-700, and should get you to the 400WHP level given your available 94 octane gasoline. Of course you'd need to get some larger injectors too.

I would guess those will get you too 360-380. Id get your intake and exhuast mani's ported, 02 dump. Then you should be close. If you are worried about long term reliability or you want to get too 400 cheap and fast get a FP red or EF3 or something.
To hit those numbers on lower octane you will probably want to convert your stock turbo over to a BBK or an FP Green in addition to all of your other supporting mods.
why don't you squeeze all the power you can out of the stock turbo with bolt-ons and cams and see how you like it. 400hp is just a number. I had 350/350 on my stock turbo with bolt-ons and mild cams (hks) and the thing was a friggin blast....spooled like a SOB and tossed my skinny *** all over the car.
In my infinite wisdom I got the idea that I wanted to hit the "400whp mark." Swapped in an Fp green and I most certainly got my 400whp..plus a little extra. Do I notice a huge difference in power? To be honest, not really. Sure top end pulls a little better but the punch is reduced. Now we have to worry about killing the motor and tuning to delay torque hit. The car is still fun and I'm used to the slight lag now, but in my initial impression I was more aware of the delay in spool than I was of the increased top end. I'd be curious to see how my car (with 420whp) would do side by side with an aggressive IX. My guess is we wouldn't see much difference until the very top of 3rd and into 4th...and even then I might only creep.
The lesson here, don't chase a number....do what you can with what you have. S2 cams are wonderful, they'll make ur head spin. I'd spend the extra money on a garrett core IC. Ditch the drop in filter unless you really need it to look oem. Port your manifolds and throttle body. If ur left wanting more, you have 2 choices....change fuel or change turbo

Here is a Canada car I did that made 380hp with only S1s. I would think S2 would put this car at or really close to 400. But this car is a factory freak and its gonna take one to hit 400hp on stock turbo and pump gas.
