Got the car running again tonight with the Walbro 255 FFTEC gave me, and reverted to stock wiring (not hard wired). The Walbro also appeared not to have its relief valve punched. I had a few beers while doing the work so I didn't drive it but assuming SEan from FFTEC tuned for the DW300 last time they looked at it, do you think it's safe to drive going back to the Walbro 255?

You should be fine on pump gas but not my fault if your engine blows. After fuel system changes, always wise to start at lower boost and log afr.

About 5-6k miles since I went back to the Walbro 255/stock wiring and it's been 100% reliable but I still need a retune.

Could be unrelated but I doubt it - I now have annoying throttle hang after a longer steady (like highway) drive then come to a stop. Next accel, after that it always hangs at 5500-6000rpm, but AFRs look good still on my wideband.

I need help learning how to log on my Macbook so I can show it to someone.

Good info here. Especially since I was just about to order the DW pump.

I have personally had great results with the AEM Ethanol, Methanol pump 50-1200. Currently using in 2 of my personal cars.
A good friend/old roommate just picked up an AEM pump from http://brewedmotors.com/aem-e85-high...hanol-methanol Said he called and got free shipping and a discount on a few other goodies he ordered at the same time.

Great to see all the new Alcohol friendly pumps hitting the market these days, WAY better than swapping out pumps all the time!

ATTENTION ALL ,

I AM HIJACKING THIS THREAD FROM THE DEAD TO ELABORATE ON A VALUABLE LESSON MENTIONED EARLIER HERE.

I just installed the AEM 50 -1000 tonight after burning out 2 treadstone 342 pumps.

IF YOU ARE REUSING THE WALBRO FUEL PUMP RUBBER SPACER ON THE BOTTOM, BE SURE TO CUT OUT A SPACE FOR THE SMALL PIOLET HOLE ON THE AEM PUMP. THIS TINY HOLE NEEDS TO BE EXPOSED TO GAS.

IF YOU DON'T, THE PUMP WILL NOT PRIME AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY BURN OUT!

I can only assume that the bottom hole is to help prime the pump and the top hole is for overflow bypass.

All ranting aside, this is day one on aems gasoline 320lph pump. I will continue to use this pump until it goes out.

I will post my findings here every couple thousand miles so that we as a community can decide if this is a worthy pump.

So far so good. AEM E85 320lph pump. Running 93 pump gas along with AEM water/meth kit (VP M1 methanol & distilled water 50/50mix). ID1300cc injectors. Evo IX is making 505awhp with plenty of room left for more fuel if needed.

The car should be around 605awhp but a issue with the head is holding it back. Either burnt valve or bad vavle seat.

Was this the issue with your treadstone pumps also?

Yes, I'm afraid so. However, Treadstone doesn't include a warning like AEM did.

I have heard talk that the AEM is just a re-branded Treadstone. Hopefully someone from AEM can come in here and confirm that this is not the case.

There are slight outside physical differences between the pumps.

On a side note, The E85 version of the AEM pump has a ceramic turbine to resist the high alcohol content. The Gas version that I have has an aluminum turbine.

You wouldn't think that either would corrode, but tests reveal the aluminum is not enough to stand up to the punishing alcohol content of E85 over time.

Very nice to know that the E85 pump can be pushed. For about how long have you had this pump?

Thanks guys.

Going on 12 months or so in the car.

I've physically owned the pumps since they first came out. I had them on a fullblown dual hanger for my 1G auto drag car but parted that car out and put one of them in the Evo. I never ran it on the 1G so it was new going into the Evo.

Excellent, I guess I shouldn't worry so much then.

I daily drive my car about 50-60 miles a day so when my fuel pump goes it ruins all my plans lol (as it usually does for all).

1 week in for me ! So far so good!
